Critics characterise my work as expressionistic art and often expose my bipolarity in respect to my handling of motifs, which oscillates between figuralism and abstraction.
I don’t think in terms of such classifications, I only tell plainly what I have to tell, what I wish to tell, also what I must tell. I search intuitively for the most suitable artistic expression of a certain story; sometimes I have a hunch to express myself more realistically, on other occasions symbolic signs and colour symbolism are enough. I find motifs in my own emotions, my passions and the life around me.
I don’t hold up a mirror to the world and problematize social relations like German expressionism used to do; I rather show my emotions in relation to the world. I simply have to paint; it`s my way of experiencing life.
